I just uploaded my first videos. They all have zero views. How long before I start earning?

The carousel is the answer. Here is how it works.
Quick Answer
Your videos are live but whether you see views depends on if your video can earn a spot on the carousel (that’s what those rotating video placements are called). Give it three to four weeks before you draw any conclusions. If you are in the upper carousel you will start seeing views.

A: Congratulations on getting approved! Here is what is a happening behind the scenes right now.
Your videos are live but whether you see views depends on if your video can earn a spot on the carousel (that’s what those rotating video placements are called). Amazon places influencer videos on product pages in two carousels. The upper carousel sits right at the top of the product page and holds up to 5 influencer videos. You really want to be here. There is also a lower carousel further down the page with 10 spots but significantly less traffic because hardy anyone scrolls all the way down there.
What you can’t see is how many other Influencers filmed videos for those products unless it is less than 15. There could be a handful of other influencers competing for those upper spots, or there could be hundreds. Amazon likely decides who gets in based on watch time and how well the video holds a viewer’s attention. If your video is not ranking yet it is sitting in line waiting for its shot.
The problem with running around your house filming everything is that more often than not, it’s a popular product. I bet you your vacuum already has hundreds if not thousands of influencer videos for Amazon to pick from. Don’t get me wrong. This stage of filming everything in your house has to happen. Its the only way to practice and get faster and better at it. But at some point, if you don’t get strategic you will burn out and have made $10.
Before you film another video, go find out what you are up against. The free version of OINK for Influencers will show you what the competition looks like and help you evaluate if its worth the time to film a product. Use code Barb for 10% off if you decide to upgrade, eventually you will have to if you are going to make this work. The information you can see with OINK will completely change how you choose products going forward or the time and effort that you put into each video.
Give it three to four weeks before you draw any conclusions. If you are in the upper carousel you will start seeing views. If you are not, that is your signal to either improve the video or move on to a less competitive product.
Action:
Download the free version of OINK for Influencers and look up every product you just filmed. You do this by running an “Order History Scan”. Find out how many influencers are already on that carousel or in the backlog waiting. That number tells you if you have any shot of making money from that video.

About Barb | Founder of Storefront Launch
Barb was working with brands before “content creator” was a job title.
Back in 2008, she helped develop branded Twitter parties: live, hashtag-based conversations that brought companies and consumers together. She helped turn those conversations into something brands could buy, then spent years pitching campaigns, recruiting paid bloggers, organizing events, and teaching other women how to use social media for business.
She was part of the original wave of “mommy bloggers” (because apparently women building successful online businesses needed a cute little nickname). Her work included brand ambassador roles with Disney, Kraft, Verizon, and GMC.
Today, Barb brings that experience—and a master’s degree in education—to Storefront Launch. She helps women make sense of Amazon Influencer, Walmart Creator, and affiliate marketing, with practical ways to earn from the content they’re already creating. Less hype. More “okay, here’s how you actually do it.” Because, to loosely quote Lin-Manuel Miranda, she was “in the room where it happen(ed).”
